Low, Part 1: The Meditations Trilogy

Written & performed by Rha Goddess
Developed & directed by Chay Yew
Hosted by Brendan Ayanbadejo of the Chicago Bears

"A powerful theater piece ... one of the highlights of the 30th annual Humana Festival of New American Plays." - Miami Herald

inguistic brilliance, hip-hop rhythms and unflappable honesty characterize the work of Rha Goddess – artist, writer, poet and social activist. Her newest foray in performance brings us Meditations with the Goddess – a trilogy of full-evening performances written by Rha and staged in collaboration with artists in theater, dance and music. Part manifesto, part family history, and part spiritual evocation, Meditations explores the revolution to be well through issues of identity, power and class. In LOW, (part 1 of the Meditations Trilogy) Rha poses the question - What is Insanity? This 75-minute, multidisciplinary solo theater piece explores the mythology, stigma, fear and confusion surrounding mental illness. A cry for understanding and positive change, LOW asserts that achieving a state of well-being in this society is a revolutionary act.
